Coming back from the summer holidays is always an interesting time…

People seem to have “reset” in some ways and come back having made some new decisions regarding their lives and at the same time fearful that things will just go back to normal.

And what do I mean by normal?

Back-to-back meetings, extra long days, no time to think let alone time to recharge, etc. And all this leads to a sense of not being able to cope with what we have so how on earth could we go for more?

So this is the main thing that stops us from going for both a career and a life that we love – our beliefs.

We believe that:

“There’s no way I can do more, I can’t even cope with what I have!”

But what if you could do things differently? What if you could do things in a way that gives you plenty of time?

“I hate my boss’ life! There’s no way I want to live or work like that!”

This means you decide to stay in your lane and sacrifice your career for that “better quality of life”.  But what if you could do your boss’ job in your way? In a way that gave you time for other things?

“You have to sell your soul in order to get on the board and once you get there, it’s nonstop!”

But what if again, you could do it your own way and still deliver?

“What will people think? Will they think I have a huge ego if I go for more? Will they still like me?…”

What would you think of someone who was ambitious and compassionate, who wanted to achieve more for herself but also be a role model for those that come after her?

And then I have the quietly ambitious women, who dream of being on the board, or even of being the CEO of the company, but don’t voice it and definitely don’t tell anyone else.

Until someone like me comes along and questions their ambition, challenges them to articulate it, and then works with them to remove the beliefs that are limiting them and lean into those that will get them where they truly want to go.

We can have a career and a life that we love – we just need to choose it and then change those pesky beliefs that keep us where we are and substitute them with ones that will get us to our goal.

What are your life and career goals?
